How can I grow in my faith?
The Bible often refers to believer’s in Jesus as “the body of Christ.” Just like a natural body, all the ligaments must stay connected in order to grow. So, at ALV we have great ways to stay connected.
#1 Get Baptized. This is a public confession to a community of believer’s that Jesus Christ truly has make you a new creation!
#2 Come to Basics Class. Basics classes are designed to help you understand the main elements of your faith. Whether you want to refresh your understanding or feel like you know very little, this is a class just for you.
#3 Join a Life Group. A Life Group is a small group that meets in a home near you to discuss topics that will help grow your faith. These studies are lead by a Life Group Leader and covers material that is in step with Pastor Derek’s Sunday morning messages.
How do I read my Bible?
Simply put, the Bible is the testimony of Jesus Christ. It is God’s very Word concerning His power to save and His previous promises for everyone who believes. We suggest that you begin with the Gospel of John. As you read chapter by chapter, the Holy Spirit will give you wisdom and understanding. John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.”
How do I pray?
God loves to hear His children pray to Him and He loves to answer their prayers! Prayer is a way of seeking God for help in our distress, forgiveness when we walk in error, and expressing our joy for all that He has done by giving Him praise. There is no requirement to be heard, only faith in Jesus and a heartfelt prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
Why do believers go to church?
Now that you know God as your loving Father, you belong to the family of Jesus Christ. What’s better than sharing your greatest joy with others who love what you love? Church is a place where all God’s people gather to worship together, hear God’s word, and be encouraged in our faith by others who love Jesus too!
